Lets Talk Paleo

I have been dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis for about 20 years.

I went the pharmaceutical direction and the side effects freaked me out.  I followed a holistic way for years.  Nothing made a major change until I followed my doctors advice…try the Paleo Diet.  ( I rather call it a life style change and not a diet. )

The Paleo way is to avoid rice,  grains, beans (legumes), sugar,  all gluten. It is more protein and low carbohydrates.  Carbohydrates converts to sugar in your body and sugar causes inflammation…the root of many chronic diseases.

Do not eat processed food (food in a box) or factory farmed meats, eggs, seafood ect. Eat meats, vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch NO sugar.  Grass fed meats and organic veggies are recommended. But that depends on your pocketbook.  Hope you get the picture.

Now I have to say I was not a process food consumer.  I really thought I had a great diet, until Paleo.  I followed my doctors advice to follow the Paleo Diet.   Bought the book “The Paleo Solution” by Robb Wolf  (very scientific but informative), a few recipe books and Googled Paleo.  I wanted to educated myself about the Paleo way.

Within 30 days I noticed a GREAT difference.  My swelling went down in my hands, especially the knuckles.  I can now again wear my wedding ring. My feet and ankle stopped hurting and my fatigue went away.  I lost fat and I am certainly not as stiff.

Let me share about my feet.  I am on my feet all day long and my feet hurt so bad I would cry when I got home. After work, I could hardly walk from my car to get inside my home.  Co workers and customers would ask me what was wrong because I would be limping.  Just yesterday a customer commented on how I was NOT walking like it hurt!!!  I now feel I can take my dog for a walk, without pain!

And my diet was  all I changed.  Amazing and awesome!  A simple tweak in my diet and I feel so much better.

So if you have any sort of inflammatory or autoimmune issues, especially Rheumatoid Arthritis, I highly recommend you take a gander at your diet and do some changes.  GO PALEO.
